/ what it is

If you've got an idea — for yourself, your whānau, your business, or your community — you can build it. Build Day is a space to learn, make, and ship it together.

AI tools have changed what it takes to build a website or app. What used to need a degree and years of experience can happen in a day, and a lot more people get to come to the table. Build Day is a learning environment first — no question too basic, no idea too small. Whether you'd rather chat to everyone or quietly get on with your thing, both are perfectly good. Participation is opt-in throughout the day.

Just yourself,
and a project.

/ how we show up

Help each other. Share what you're figuring out. Celebrate what everyone makes.

We believe people do their best work when they feel safe — physically and psychologically. So Build Day has zero tolerance for hate of any kind, or unconstructive negativity. If you can't show up in a way that keeps the room safe, you'll be asked to leave.

/ common questions
Who is this for? Do you need to be technical?
Everyone's welcome — especially folks who aren't technical or haven't built an app or website before. Facilitators will guide you through it, and there's an optional learning session in the morning for anyone who'd like to be taken through the basics.
Does it have to be a business idea?
Not at all. Solve a problem in your own life, bring people together for activism, build something just for fun — all brilliant. Commercial ideas are welcome too; they're just not the focus.
What if I can't bring a laptop?
Get in touch and we'll do our best to find one for you.

is to spend a day around others doing the same.
